Doctors’ surgeries in Tayside and North East Fife have closed their doors to patients in an effort to reduce the risk of coronavirus spreading.
Routine appointments have been cancelled and patients turned away as part of the virus control measures.
A patient attending a routine physiotherapy appointment at Brechin Medical Practice was met with locked doors on Monday morning and a sign saying do not enter and to call the GP instead.
The Lour Road Group Practice in Forfar has also printed a note saying its doors will be locked to patients, with individuals told to call ahead.
Hillbank Health Centre in Constitution Street, Dundee and Westgate Medical Practice, on Dundee’s Charleston Drive, has both announced emergency measures.
From Tuesday, March 17, the Tayview Medical Practice will also adopt similar measures.
A statement on the Brechin Medical Practice website read:
“Please do not come to the surgery as we are dealing with everything over the phone.
“We are only dealing with urgent cases.
“All routine appointments will be cancelled.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Repeat prescriptions can be posted through the letterbox.”
The noticeboard on the Hillbank Health Centre website said the surgery doors were closed to the public.
“The practice is operational, please telephone first. Should you require a prescription we can arrange for this to go to a chemist.”
