Police in Dundee are continuing to probe the death of a three-year-old boy.
A police officer has been standing guard at the house within the block of flats at Orleans Place in Menzieshill for a number of days.
The boy became unwell on Thursday night before he was taken to Ninewells Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A plain-clothes officer remained at the scene on Monday and the flat in question remained sealed off.
Police were continuing to maintain a high-visibility presence in the area.
One woman, who declined to be named, said everyone in the community was still coming to terms with what has happened.
She said she was left sick when she found out about the death.
“It’s very sad to hear that a child has died and everyone is in shock.
“It makes you feel bad that you don’t know your neighbours better. I know that the whole community is stunned.”
She said it was not unusual to see police in Orleans Place, which is just off Dickson Avenue.
“When I saw the police here on Friday I assumed it was something to do with drugs,” she said.
“I felt sick when I found out what had happened.”
Police said the boy’s death was unexplained.
It is unclear how long inquiries will take to establish what happened.
The boy went to St Ninian’s Nursery in Dochart Terrace and it is understood his friends have been told about what happened.
The nursery was open as usual on Monday following the tragedy.
The death was a topic of conservation for customers at the nearby Spar store.
One shopper said a police vehicle was also situated outside the property on Sunday.
He added: “It’s not unusual to see the police here from time to time, but I was shocked to hear a wee lad had died.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman added: “We received a report of a three-year-old boy who was unwell at an address on Orleans Place, Dundee, at around 11.20pm on Thursday March 12.
“The boy was taken to Ninewells Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing.”
