All of Dundee’s cinemas will be closed as of Wednesday.
Cineworld has announced all its cinemas across the UK will be shut starting from Wednesday, 18 March until further notice.
A statement said the decision was made in light of the current coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak and recent UK government advice.
On Monday Prime Minister Boris Johnson told people in the UK to avoid pubs, clubs and theatres, stop all non-essential contact and travel, and work from home if they can.
Cineworld Group CEO Mooky Greidinger said: “At Cineworld and Picturehouse we are committed to providing safe and healthy environments for our employees and guests and have therefore made the difficult decision to close our cinemas in UK and Ireland until further notice.
“We deeply value our cinema-loving customers and have no doubt we will be serving everyone again as soon as possible with a full slate of Hollywood blockbusters and the best of independent films and content.”
Dundee’s two other cinemas, the DCA and the Odeon, closed on Tuesday.
A statement from Odeon reads: “Following government guidelines Odeon cinemas are closed until further notice. If you have pre-booked tickets online, these will be refunded automatically.”

As of Monday afternoon 1,543 people had contracted covid-19 across the UK. In Scotland the figure sits at 171.
It comes after plans were revealed to expand testing for the virus across Scottish communities.
However people with minor symptoms will not be routinely tested. The advice for those who are not severely ill is to remain at home for seven days.
