Calls have been made to protect Dundee’s most vulnerable people as restrictions are placed on public sector care homes.
Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership has limited its four care homes to one visitor per resident and said visits will be time limited and must take place in bedrooms.
The restrictions will be in place at Craigie House, Janet Brougham House, Menzieshill House and Turriff House.
Dundee City Council leader John Alexander said: “Covid-19 is already having a significant impact on all our lives and how we respond to this situation will be the measure of our city.
“Let’s do our bit by following the latest health guidance and helping out where we can. Please don’t contribute to the spread and protect those who are most vulnerable.
“Robust contingency plans are in place, and the situation is being monitored all the time. We’ll continue to provide regular updates to the public and our staff.”
The council has also suspended its bulky waste collections, other than those already booked for collection this week.
