A man is alleged to have put a police officer’s life in danger by coughing on him and claiming to have Covid-19.
Ryan Duke, 29, of Ann Street in Dundee, allegedly assaulted PC Ramsay Scott, in the course of his duty, by coughing in his face and claiming he had the virus.
Duke is also alleged to have breached bail and to have behaved in a threatening manner in several city locations, all on Sunday.
He appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court before Sheriff Lorna Drummond.
He allegedly broke a March 20 bail order to stay home from 8pm to 7am daily by being on Riverside Drive at 10.50pm on March 29.
It is further claimed that at Tesco on Riverside Drive, and on trips between Tesco and the A&E department at Ninewells Hospital then Ninewells to Bell Street Police Station, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner.
Duke allegedly banged on shop windows, kicked a bin, claimed to officers he had taken 100 paracetamol tablets and repeatedly shouted that he was infected with Covid-19.
It is further claimed he spat over the rear of a police van and behaved aggressively towards officers and an A&E consultant by shouting and swearing, before allegedly assaulting PC Ramsay Scott. Duke made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody for a hearing at a later date.
