Tayside Aviation have been permitted to test light aircrafts under new UK government guidelines.
The measures allow Dundee’s pilots to carry out essential maintenance and engine health checks.
The announcement follows reports of light aircraft traffic flying near the River Tay.
The flight school have said the rules will allow them to ensure aircraft are “ready for operation” as soon as possible.
The advice covers all non-complex aircraft, including microlights, amateur built, historic aircraft, balloons, gliders, piston twins and singles up to 5,700kg maximum take-off weight and single pilot helicopters up to 3,175kgs.
Flights must be no more than 30 minutes and aircraft should aim to remain within the airfield circuit where possible.
Tayside Aviation announced its temporary closure on March 23, with Dundee Airport also closing its doors, permitting only essential travel.
A statement on Facebook read: “To all of our students and customers from all of the staff at Tayside Aviation, we hope you’re keep safe and sticking to the lockdown rules.
“As many of you will already know the CAA have published guidelines and allowances to fly light aircraft for the purpose of essential maintenance and engine health flights.
“We are currently adapting to the ever changing situation however are putting plans in place to ensure the aircraft are maintained, operation and ready for service as soon as safely possible.”
