Dundee Contemporary Arts offering art, culture and creative activities online during coronavirus lock down

While the DCA building is closed as a result of the coronavirus situation, the team are continuing to offer a series of art, culture, and creative activities online.

A DCA spokesperson said: “We want to do our bit to provide entertainment, inspiration and a pleasant distraction during this strange time, so we’ve been working hard to bring our programme to you virtually”.

An exhibitions reading group focusing on feminist and queer texts from the worlds of art and literature, led by head of exhibitions Eoin Dara, sees its next online meeting on May 7 at 6pm.

Throwback Thursdays is also seeing the team look back through DCA’s exhibitions archive and sharing information and images of past shows.

With his exhibition in DCA galleries postponed until next year, Douglas Gordon is sharing his list of top 100 films, while a new regular DCA film club is recommending great films to watch at home and then chatting about them online. There’s a new pick every Friday, which is then chatted about on the following Tuesday.

A weekly DCA film quiz has been established, while there’s a chance for members of a younger audience to watch favourite short films from the Discovery Film Festival and then join in with a creative activity.

Other activities on offer include a DUNDEAD film quiz, and Monday Makes where, every week, the DCA learning team is sharing a step-by-step guide to help people get making at home.

There’s also a chance to embark on Print Studio Tuesday Tours via social media.
