The Sunny Dundee masks are the result of a collaboration with the local authority and Unesco City of Design Dundee, fabric manufacturer Halley Stevensons and One City, Many Discoveries.
Their production has been supported by pre-orders from dozens of city businesses. They will also be sold to the public for £6.
The proceeds will go towards other masks being made and donated to local community groups and food banks.
The masks will be available across the city, including at Quirky Coo, Dock Street Studios, Maisie & Mac and Birchwood Emporium.
Council leader John Alexander said: “We want to welcome back to the city, but in a safe way.
“Work has already taken place to prepare public areas for increasing numbers of people with signs and distinctive Sunny Dundee signage being deployed to encourage people to queue safely and follow one-way pedestrian flows.”
