Two Dundee women are set to appear in court in connection with a barbaric act of animal cruelty that shocked the city.
A badly dehydrated and malnourished dog was found in a bin in Dundonald Street on Friday April 15.
The male pointer crossbreed had to be put down after being rescued from the large metal bin by Scottish SPCA officers.
It is thought the dog had been dumped in the bin overnight on Thursday.
There was public outcry after details of the dog’s ordeal were made public.
The Scottish SPCA has now said two women are set to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.
Inspector Clare Anderson said: “Following our investigation, two females from Dundee will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged offences under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006, relating to the abandonment and unnecessary suffering of a dog.
“We would like to thank members of the public for their assistance with our appeal for information.”
