The first part of a £5 million investment to improve Dundee’s drinking water will begin later this month.
The works will cause some disruption but Scottish Water has said only one street will be affected at a time.
Work will begin in West Marketgait for two weeks at the end of the month, with lane closures in place. This will be followed by Brown Street, Session Street and Old Hawkhill with some parking restrictions.
Temple Lane will be closed for two weeks, and South Tay Street will see parking restrictions for three weeks.
A spokesperson for Scottish Water added a lot of effort had been made to speak to affected businesses ahead of time and added that letters would be issued to affected customers prior to work starting.
Ruaridh Macgregor, Dundee’s community team manager for Scottish Water, said: “We are investing £5 million in upgrading Dundee’s essential drinking water infrastructure. The work will also help us to support redevelopment and growth in the city.
“Water mains can vary in age and the upgrading of these essential supply pipes is vital to ensure we achieve maximum water quality and security of supply for our customers.”
More work will begin on Perth Road over the summer, with some disruption expected throughout July and August whilst the works are underway.
