A young and clearly rather disillusioned Dundee United fan has taken his frustration out through the medium of song.
With his beloved Tangerines on the precipice — defeat at the hands of city rivals Dundee will result in relegation — he penned a “light-hearted” song slamming club owner Stephen Thompson.
The song, which contains some bad language, was released on video sharing site YouTube and then shared on the Pie and Bovril Scottish football fans’ forum.
The ashen faced youngster sings “I never thought this day would come – relegation at Dens Park.”
During the deeply emotional performance, the young fan — who refers to himself as DUFCfan2000 — demands that Thompson “get out of the club”.
With dramatic music in the background and standing in front of a Nadir Ciftci poster, the young fan says he is speaking —and indeed singing — for “all Arabs”.
Manager Mixu Paatelainen also comes in for criticism, and is described as resembling a “meatball”.
Talking to The Courier, the 17 year-old musician, said: “This is just a light-hearted song.
“I mean no harm whatsoever to Stephen Thompson or to Dundee United.
“It was really meant for the small group of friends who normally see my videos but has ended up going everywhere.
He joked: “I will probably have to keep my head down at the match now.”
The song may be intended as a bit of banter, but the young artist admits his club is in dire trouble.
“I think we will be going down tonight,” he added.
Meanwhile, many fellow fans said they had been inspired by the song which has been given a positive reaction on social media, with some fans Tweeting their support — and others using it as a chance to have a pop at the beleaguered club.
