A gym in Dundee has closed just months after being bought over by new owners.
Everlast Fitness Club Dundee, formerly DW Fitness Club, in Gallagher Retail Park will not reopen.
A letter to members, seen by The Courier, cites a disagreement with the building’s landlord as the reason behind the decision.
The letter states: “It is with great sadness that we must write to you… to advise you we have closed the club permanently as of October 29.
“Throughout the past two months, our priority has been to try to renegotiate rents with landlord, as it was immediately apparent that your Dundee fitness club would not be sustainable without us doing so.
“The importance of the negotiation was to allow job security and provide a long term future for the club. Regrettably, we have been unsuccessful in our discussions with the landlord, which means keeping Dundee open is no longer financially viable.”
The gym’s previous owners, DW Sports went into administration earlier this year.
At the time, the company said the development would not affect the gym as it fell under the Fitness First arm of the company.
Everlast Fitness Clubs has been approached for comment.
