Firefighters at a Dundee fire station used their hoses for a different reason on Saturday, to raise funds for charity.
Officers from the red watch at Kingsway East fire station took part in a charity car wash, helping to raise money for the Firefighters Charity.
From 10am to 2pm, the crew toiled on the forecourt, offering Dundee residents the chance to have their cars washed for a small donation.
By 2pm, officers had washed 50 cars and had raised over £400.
There was no recommended donation, however some people handed over £20 for a regular car wash, all of which is to be given to the charity.
The event was scheduled to last until 3pm, but the crew were called to assist at an incident in St Cyrus, which called a halt on proceedings.
Bryan Nelson, watch manager at Kingsway East, said: “There are several representatives of the Firefighters Charity based at our station and we were keen to get involved.
“The Firefighters Charity help both current and retired firefighters and their families.
“They also have a rehabilitation centre for firefighters who have been injured on the job.
“Fire-stations across the UK are holding fundraising events today, so we are glad to be involved.
“Kingsway East is a community fire-stationand and we try our best to get involved in as many community events as we can- like liaising with schools and other local community programmes.
“I would like to thank the very kind-hearted, genourous people of Dundee for their support on Saturday, we are all very pleased with the money we have been able to raise.”
