The heartbroken owner of a missing cat fears his beloved pet was decapitated before being dumped outside a Dundee leisure centre.
David Bajek’s 10-year-old cat Poppy went missing days before the mutilated cat’s remains were found outside Dundee’s Stack Leisure Park.
As The Courier revealed on Saturday, the pet’s torso was discovered amidst fears from animal charities that violence against Dundee animals is on the rise.
Though the cat’s body is yet to be discovered, David believes the similarities between the recovered pet and Poppy are striking.
As his agonising wait for clarity continues, David took to Facebook to warn the public of the “brutal murder”.
In an emotional post, he said: “Can my friends and family share the horrifying news that our beautiful cat poppy is the one who was brutally murdered, in the hopes that we can find the murderer.
“From what I’ve learnt, she was most likely caught and suffered in agony against torture, before her head was cut off and the body dumped, her head still unaccounted for.
“The body has since been removed, by who we don’t know, so we haven’t even been able to say goodbye.
“To the families with pets, please share and watch out for your beloved animals.”
Addressing the “sadistic torturer” whose crime shocked people throughout Dundee, David said: “To the families with children, note the terrifying fact that someone is walking the streets with a blade large and sharp enough to decapitate a fully grown mammal who’d have been defending herself tooth and claw.
“IÂ especially ask the people who this evil person secretly bragged to afterwards come forward and name the killer, to teach the lesson that animal cruelty is never tolerated; this is cold, criminal and evil. We can try and stop them before it happens again.
“Finally to the sadistic torturer, you are the ultimate bully and ultimate coward, and I worry for your friends and family who are with you now and have no idea what you’ve done.
“And if they do know, I hope they turn you in.”
A spokesperson for Dundee City Council confirmed the administration have received a complaint which they are currently investigating.
Police Scotland were unavailable for comment.
