A seal pup rescue from Broughty Ferry on Thursday evening has been put down.
The Scottish SPCA and British Divers Marine Life Rescue spent four hours rescuing the stricken pup from near Broughty Ferry Castle.
It was taken to the Scottish SPCA’s National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Fishcross but it was decided the best option was to put the animal down due to its ill health.
A BDMLR spokeswoman said: “It was taken into the Scottish SPCA centre at Fishcross but it was so poorly it had to be put down.
“It was just so thin and sick.”
A large crowd of spectators gathered on Thursday to watch the rescue operation.
