Dundee is set to become the first official toilet twinning city in Scotland later this week.
An initiative to partner amenities in the developing world with wee rooms in the city will be celebrated by the Lord Provost Bob Duncan and the CEO of Toilet Twinning at a presentation on Friday.
MP Chris Law will also be in attendance at the event on the RRS Discovery.
Dundee’s Soroptimists have been behind the cause, fundraising to help some of the 2.5 billion people worldwide who do not have access to safe, clean and private toilets.
The Soroptimists’ Prue Watson said: “We originally read about the cause in our organisation’s own newsletter as it included a piece about Chester becoming a toilet-twinned city.
“We thought it was a great idea and hope that people across the city, including the lord provost, will share our enthusiasm.
“By taking part in this scheme, the people of Dundee can make a big difference to people in so many countries.”
MSPs Joe FitzPatrick and Shona Robison and MPs Chris Law and Stewart Hosie all twinned their loos as part of the drive.
Dundee’s new status follows in the footsteps of Bathgate, which was named Scotland’s first toilet-twinned town in November.
Individuals can twin their toilets for £60.
