Parking issues, which plagued last year’s WestFest, were largely avoided this time around, according to organisers.
Hundreds of drivers reportedly faced fines at the 2015 festival when drivers were forced to park illegally in order to access the event.
Despite being what is thought to be the busiest year yet, parking appeared to be under control throughout this year’s festival.
Many drivers chose to park on grass along Riverside Drive, with traffic wardens’ focus aimed firmly at the residential streets on the north of the venue.
Organisers confirmed that a lot of planning had gone into ensuring there was no repeat of the chaotic scenes from last year.
They made a concerted effort to encourage attendees to leave the car at home, take public transport, or if they needed to park, to do it further away from the site in a safe place.
Carse were also diverted from Magdalen Yard Road, which runs along the park, to keep traffic moving.
WestFest committee members now plan to closely examine exactly how successful their new plans have been.
