A 40-year-old man and his four-year-old daughter remain in intensive care at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee following a horrific collision on the A90 on Monday.
Emergency services were called to the accident just after 3.15pm and spent an hour cutting the pair free from their Toyota Corolla, which had collided with the rear of an articulated lorry that had stopped in a lay-by.
It was initially feared that one of the car’s occupants may have died in the accident.
But both the father and his daughter, named locally as Abdul and Alena Salem, are no longer in danger of losing their lives, although they remain in intensive care at Ninewells Hospital.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said their conditions are no longer considered “life threatening”.
