A Dundee father-of-three remains in a critical condition in Ninewells Hospital after a horrific collision on the A90 on the outskirts of Dundee.
Forty-year-old Abdul Salem and his four-year-old daughter Aleena both suffered serious injuries in the collision on Powrie Brae at 3.15pm.
Although Aleena was expected to return to the family home on Clepington Road last night, Abdul’s condition remains far more serious.
His wife Adeela was by his side at Ninewells Hospital on Tuesday.
The couple also have two boys, aged six and one.
Abdul, who runs a newsagents in Brechin, was driving home from work when his Toyota Corolla was involved in a collision with a lorry parked by the A90.
Both Abdul and Aleena were taken to hospital in separate ambulances.
Abdul’s uncle, former Dundee citizen of the year Mohammed Issa said the entire family is struggling to come to terms with Monday’s accident and are praying that Abdul, known as Abi, makes a full recovery.
He said: “They are just in a state of shock just now and hoping for the best.
“Aleena has recovered and should hopefully get home today but Abdul is still sedated so they have just got to wait.
“It is in the hands of the doctors but hopefully he will be okay.”
Mr Issa added: “Adeela is obviously away up to the hospital – she is attending to both.
“Abdul was just returning from his business when it happened.”
Police closed the southbound carriageway of the A90 at Tealing while they attended Monday’s incident.
Tributes to both Abdul and Aleena were posted online in the aftermath of the accident.
Jazzy Ishaq, owner of Threads in Dundee, wrote on Facebook: “Can I ask everybody to say a huge prayer for our friend/bro Abby and his daughter who were in the car crash on the A9 and anyone else that was involved
“God bless you and your wee one bro.”
