The search for a man missing in the River Tay since Saturday has been suspended amid worsening weather conditions.
Thick fog shrouded the river and northern Scotland on Sunday, grounding the coastguard’s helicopter.
With conditions deteriorating even further overnight – and with visibility on the water almost non-existent this morning – both the coastguard and RNLI confirmed they had been temporarily stood down.
At the weekend, there was furious activity on the Tay after Police Scotland received reports that a man had plunged into the water, near to the road bridge, shortly after 4pm on Saturday.
Emergency services patrolled the water for hours, without success.
The operation has now entered a new phase, with search efforts likely to resume in a reduced capacity once conditions improve.
