A Perthshire man has admitted embezzling thousands of pounds from Tesco Bank.
Raymond Townsley scammed a total of £3,097.42 while employed as a customer service manager for Tesco Bank at their call centre in Dundee’s Baird Avenue.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard he embezzled the money between October 25 2013 and June 25 last year.
Fiscal depute Stewart Duncan said he had defrauded the cash by repeated thefts of small sums.
He said: “It seems to be lots of small amounts over two years. Refunds would be processed and put into his own bank account.”
Townsley, 33, of High Street, Rattray, pleaded guilty on summary complaint to a single charge of embezzlement.
Sheriff George Way deferred sentence until next month for social work background reports and ordered Townsley to appear at the sentencing hearing.
He said: “The fraud was a simple reimbursement diversion.”
