An initiative providing free tennis to Dundonians is to be served up in two of the city’s parks.
Tennis For Free has will launch its initiatives to encourage more people to take up the sport at Dawson and Fairmuir parks this weekend.
Anyone can attend and all equipment is provided free of charge, as are coaching sessions from experts.
The sessions will run between 1-3pm on Saturday 25 June at Fairmuir, and in Dawson Park on Sunday at the same time.
The project is run in partnership with Leisure & Culture Dundee, Dundee City Council and Tennis Scotland.
Alex Knight, sports development officer at Leisure & Culture Dundee, said: “Tennis For Free sessions offer the perfect kick-start to grow participation and get people involved. The sessions at both sites will give everyone the chance to take part, irrespective of standard or experience. We’ll provide racquets and balls, just register at www.leisureandculturedundee.com/tennis and turn up with enthusiasm.”
Judy Murray, mother of tennis stars Jamie and Andy Murray, is one of the high profile supporters of the campaign.
Doc McKelvey, head of development at Tennis Scotland, said: “The sessions are perfect for that first taste of tennis or for getting back into the game in a fun and relaxed manner but with all equipment provided and coaches in attendance to help organise practices or provide some tips, if you want them.”
