Police in Dundee are hunting two BMX bike-riding teenagers believed to have set fire to a huge pile of dung.
Roads had to be closed after the stinking manure pile became engulfed in flame on Wednesday evening.
Firefighters were called to Powrie Farm at around 8.45pm following reports of a blaze in a crop field.
When they arrived, crews discovered that “a large pile of straw and dung” had been set alight. It took around an hour-and-a-half to fully extinguish the fire.
Police officers were forced to temporarily close some local roads as smoke billowed across the carriageways and are now appealing for information to catch those responsible.
A spokeswoman said: “Officers are keen to speak to two teenagers on BMX bikes who were seen the area at the time.”
Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
