Locals have expressed their disgust after one of Dundee’s newest tourist attractions was vandalised within 48 hours of being launched.
One of the city’s 55 Oor Wullie statues was covered in black paint by vandals.
The structure, located in Magdalen Green, was defaced after being unveiled on Monday.
Dundee City Council has since sent workers to clean the figure.
Dundonians have reacted with dismay to the incident.
Taking to Twitter, Scott Brown said: “Really utterly disgusted by whoever did this to the Oor Wullie on Magdalen Green.”
Hope Reid, 44, membership secretary of the Friends of Magdalen Green, said: “I went to take a picture of my dogs with the statue this morning, as one of the other girls from the green had done yesterday, and noticed something different.
“As I got closer and put my hand on it, I saw that his face was covered in black paint.
“It is absolutely disgraceful. Why can’t people just leave things alone?”
There are 55 statues dotted around the city, in a charity project raising money for the ARCHIE Foundation and its efforts to transform the children’s ward at Ninewells Hospital.
Hundreds of people have been following the map and sharing their photos of the statues. Many can be found using the tag #buckettrail.
