A Carnoustie woman said she has been left overwhelmed by public support after her family lost everything in a fire.
Yvonne Cantwell, 39, had to watch helplessly as fire destroyed her Links Parade home on Saturday night.
She and her children Amy, eight, and Dan, 15, lost all their possessions and their two beloved pet cats, Charlie and Max.
Yvonne also lost the dress she was planning to wear at her eldest daughter Laura’s wedding on Friday.
Yvonne and Amy had been swimming in the Carnoustie Golf Hotel opposite their home when the fire began.
It is believed it started because of an electrical fault in their kitchen.
They left the hotel just before 8pm on Saturday to discover flames leaping from the windows of their ground floor flat.
An online appeal by family friend Cheryl Winter provoked a massive response online and the Cantwells have been bombarded with offers of help.
Yvonne posted on Facebook on Monday: “Everyone who has donated items for us, I can’t read them all for crying.
“Overwhelming response from people I’ve never met. I’m lost for words , thank you all so much.”
On Sunday night she wrote: “I’m so thankful I’m alive and my beautiful children, but fire took away these beautiful family pets and I cannot explain how I feel… please don’t underestimate fire.
“I have nothing left but thankfully my children, family and friends. Material things are replaceable.
“I’m totally rock bottom but life is precious.”
Among those who have donated goods to the family is Dundee shopkeeper Naeem Khaliq, who runs Home and Kitchen Ltd in Dundee’s Keiller Centre.
He has said he will give Yvonne and his family £150 worth of electrical goods to help them rebuild their lives.
Mr Khaliq said: “I was just reading about their situation and thought I could help – I have nephews and nieces the same ages as her children.
“It just pulled at the heartstrings. I felt so sorry for her. You would never like to be in that situation.”
Mr Khaliq added: “It’s great that so many people want to help.
“I hope she gets everything she needs, she seems like a nice person.”
A website has also been set up online for people to give donations to the Cantwells.
