Police are treating the recent death of a man in Dundee as suspicious, it has been revealed.
Officers investigating the death of 49-year-old Nigel Poustie have confirmed that the circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated further.
Emergency services were called to Charleston Drive on Monday after reports of an injured man on the scene, who died in hospital the following day.
Leading the investigation, Detective Inspector Brian Geddes said: “Since Monday, July 4 when we were called to Charleston Drive, Dundee, we have been carrying out extensive enquiries to determine how Mr Poustie came about his injuries.
“Those enquiries have continued following his death at Ninewells Hospital on Tuesday, July 5.
“Following information that we have obtained during this time, the circumstances surrounding his death are being treated as suspicious and as such, we continue to appeal for information to assist us with our enquiries.”
Mr Poustie was found in Charleston Drive at about 6.30pm on Monday, July 4.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing him fall at least three times, including on to the path where a young man discovered him and called an ambulance.
At that time Mr Poustie was wearing a dark jacket and a black ‘tammy’ hat with a red band around it.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or spoken to him that day.
DI Geddes added: “Also, if you were in the area of Charleston Drive or Spey Drive and noticed any suspicious activity, we would also like to speak to you, no matter how insignificant you think this information might be.
“During our enquiries we have spoken with members of Mr Poustie’s family, his friends and neighbours, but we want make sure that we have contacted as many people as possible who may have known him – you may have vital information that could assist our enquiry team.
