Local firms have reacted with concern to news that Dundee FC could be on the move.
It has been revealed the Dark Blues’ owners have purchased a patch of land near Camperdown Park.
It is thought a new stadium with a capacity of at least 11,500 could be on the cards.
The Courier has since spoken with fans and locals of all ages who have expressed a variety of views on the potential move.
The view of local businesses surrounding the club’s Dens Park home appears, however, to be more clear-cut.
A host of pubs and cafes on Dundee’s Provost Road and Clepington Road have admitted they expect their business to be impacted if Dundee fans are heading to Camperdown and not Dens every other weekend.
Haley Buchan, manager of nearby Whites Bar, admitted she was hoping the Dark Blues stay put.
She said: “We have a lot of football fans who drink here.
“If Dundee move it will definitely affect things. Hopefully it doesn’t go ahead.”
Tracy Craigie, from Dundee’s Ambassador Bar, echoed Hayley’s fears.
The Ambassador welcomes both Dundee and United fans, but Tracy feels the potential switch would still reduce trade.
She said: “We get a lot of Dundee fans in here on a Saturday.
“It will affect a lot of pubs round here.”
Cafes and newsagents could also be impacted by the relocation, should it go ahead.
One cafe owner, Ronnie Clark, concedes he, too, would see a reduction in sales.
Ronnie, who runs the city’s Food On The Green eatery, said: “You can notice when Dundee play away from home — there are fewer people about.
“It would impact business, but not enough to keep me awake at night.
“It would be a big miss though.”
Local newsagent and former Dundee director Dave Forbes told The Courier he, too, felt local business — particularly pubs — would suffer.
