Residents in Fintry could be without power for up to seven hours after network issues, according to energy provider SSE.

Issues with the low voltage network has affected 33 homes in the area, with engineers currently working to restore power, a spokeswoman said.

The power cut began at 10.35am this morning, with staff working to complete it by 5pm at the latest.

The power cut has affected Fintry’s Findale Street.

The spokeswoman said: “A fault occurred with our low voltage network in Dundee at 10.35am this morning.

Engineers currently working on fault

“There are 33 customers affected. We despatched engineers who are currently working on it at the moment, to restore two fuses.

“They are working with an estimated time of 5pm for restoring power, but hope we can restore our customers’ supply before then.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this fault.

‘Bit of a nightmare’

“We would like to thank customers for their patience while our engineers work to restore power as safely and as quickly as possible.”

One woman in the area said: “I was standing in the shower and it just stopped and the light went out.”

“It’s a bit of a nightmare. I guess it’s unavoidable but when your washing machine stops halfway through a wash it’s not ideal.”
