An international film crew has taken over The Horn Milk Bar for a new top secret project.
Filming is rumoured to be for a limited Disney+ series called The Wedding Season, described as a murder mystery/rom com.
And it’s the third time a film set has been created at the popular Errol diner, better known as the home of the world’s best bacon roll.
The action prompted delighted owner Kenny Farquharson to quip: “It Disnae get better than this!”
Filming inside and out
The film crew set up camp at the popular restaurant near Errol on Wednesday and Thursday.
Kenny has signed a non-disclosure agreement so couldn’t confirm the project name.
However, he is delighted to see The Horn used as a film set for the third time this year.
He said: “As well as the official home of the world’s best bacon roll, The Horn Milk Bar appears to have carved out a niche in the film industry as the location to go for a unique retro-looking diner.
“This is our third film shoot in nine months, which is pretty cool for a small family business.
“After filming Pram Snatcher and A90 earlier this year, we have just closed for two days to the public to host another filming project.
“All we can say at this point is that it Disnae get any bigger than this!”
He added: “The cast and crew were extremely professional, with lots of action scenes filmed outside and inside the restaurant – and of course, featuring The Horn Cow on the roof.
“We’re already looking forward to the final edit.”
A murder mystery romantic comedy
The Wedding Season is described as being an eight-part murder mystery romantic comedy, featuring American actress Rosa Salazar, who plays the just married Katie.
We first meet the new bride on her wedding day, surrounded by the dead bodies of her new husband and every member of his family.
The police think Katie’s lover Stefan did it. Stefan thinks Katie did it. Katie thinks her ex-husband did it. Who will be unmasked as the true killer?
This new production is being created by Dancing Ledge Productions and Jax Media, who worked on The Salisbury Poisonings and Emily in Paris respectively.
Earlier this year, The Horn was transformed into a set right out of the 90s, for Pram Snatcher, a BFI-backed production that follows the misadventures of a heavily-pregnant career criminal as she struggles with impending motherhood.
Meanwhile, A90 tells the story of a discontented waitress who develops an intimate relationship with an unavailable woman in a “netherworldy roadside cafe”.
Filming all over Scotland
The film crew was spotted all over Scotland, before popping up at The Horn.
On Tuesday, crew were seen outside a hotel in Arbroath, filming what looked like a dramatic argument.
While on Monday, the Aberdeenshire village of Johnshaven was transformed into the fictional town of Macilraith, where a number of scenes are expected to take place in the series.
Intrigued locals who flocked to the Johnshaven film set, overheard characters talking about pushing a police car over the edge of a cliff.
The film crew took over the village centre to transform it into a local convenience store.
Rosa Salazar is best know for her roles in Maze Runner and American Horror Story.
