A man has died in Dundee after being found with serious injuries on a street in Douglas.
Police were called to Ballindean Terrace on Wednesday afternoon and cordoned off the area.
A spokesperson said: “Around 2.55pm on Wednesday, police were called to a property on Ballindean Terrace, Dundee, following a report of a man with serious injuries.
“The man was pronounced dead at the scene and an investigation is under way.
“Officers remain in the area. We’d like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding as officers carry out their investigation.”
The dead man’s identity has not been confirmed, but a floral tribute has been left at the scene.
It reads: “Devastated to hear the news, sleep tight big man, we will miss you, from all the girls at Rowlands Pharmacy.”
Several police units and an ambulance were parked on Ballindean Terrace, with the entire length of the street taped off.
One resident told The Courier: “I came down Ballindean Road on the bus when I finished work and saw it was all blocked off with cars, you can’t get into Ballunie Drive, Ballindean Terrace or Ballintrae Road.
“That’s when I knew it must be something serious.
Residents unable to leave their homes
“My niece’s friends live on Ballindean Terrace and they’re basically in house arrest at the moment – they’re not involved in what’s going on but they’ve been told they can’t leave the cordoned-off area.
“It’s not unusual for the police to be here but this amount is.”
Her grandfather, who stays on Ballindean Terrace, said: “It was the back of 2pm I heard the first sirens and then just more and more.
“I was in the garden and saw them coming past.”
Another woman in the area said: “I just went to the shop and was told a man is dead.
“It’s awful. There’s kids hanging about where the police have the streets blocked off.
“You hear rumours of what happened and folk speaking on Facebook. It’s just awful to know someone is dead round the corner from you.”
A bystander added: “We were driving down the main drag of Ballindean Road then saw five or six police cars and one van.
“There were cars or vans at all of the entrances to the side streets. Then we got around to the shops and it’s all cordoned off.”
