Several streets in Dundee city centre were closed on Thursday after a major emergency response to concerns for a female at the Overgate.
Police shut roads including Reform Street and Bank Street, along with the back entrance to the shopping centre, just after 10.30am.
The cordon was lifted at around 11.45am.
A police spokesperson said: “Around 10.35am on Thursday, officers were called to a report of concern for a female at a car park on Overgate Lane in Dundee.
“Emergency services attended and the female was taken to hospital for assessment.”
Malcolm Angus, centre manager at the Overgate, confirmed the car park had been temporarily closed – but the centre is now trading as normal again.
Witnesses reported seeing a large police and fire service presence.
One onlooker said: “I was on the bus on the way into work and saw a police car coming past us round the back of the Wellgate.
“Another van with blue lights on then came down Hilltown.
“When I came into the city centre an officer was standing guard at the top of Reform Street and directing traffic away – he also put out a ‘police slow’ sign.
“I could see another police vehicle about halfway down the road near Bank Street but it was unclear what was going on – the officer just said it was an ‘incident’.
“Not long after that, several fire engines turned up on blue lights and were sent down Reform Street.”
Another pedestrian said: “I just came along and they told me I wasn’t able to go up Bank Street. There were three fire engines, the road was blocked.
“When I came down it was around 11.15am, but I don’t know how long they were here before that.”
Businesses in the area closed their doors for a period while the incident was dealt with.
