Police Scotland is continuing to investigate the discovery of a body in a city park.
Officers sealed off a large area of Finlathen Park after the body was recovered from the Dighty Burn.
Emergency services were called to a section of the burn near the 11-a-side football pitch shortly after 9am yesterday.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed a body was recovered and that inquiries were ongoing. Fire crews from the Kingsway and Macalpine stations were also in attendance to assist.
By early afternoon, police officers were stationed at entry points near Fintryside and also on footpaths inside the park.
One woman who was walking her dog said: “There were two fire engines, police and one ambulance at the scene.
“I saw a dog walker down at the burn and the police came down shortly after. We were shocked to hear what has happened.
“It must have been awful for the person who made the discovery.”
Another man said: “It’s a tragedy to hear that someone’s body has been found. My condolences go to that person’s family.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “A body was recovered from the Dighty Burn at 9.15am on Tuesday. Inquiries into the incident are still ongoing.”
