John Campbell, 45, of Midmar Place, will stand trial on March 6.
He denies one charge of assault to injury at a Dundee pub during an incident last year.
Campbell denies assaulting Kevin Vannet by pushing him on the body, causing him to fall to the floor and thereafter kicking him on the head, all to his injury.
The offence is alleged to have taken place at The Anchor, Gray Street, Broughty Ferry, on November 4 last year.
