Dundee man asked McDonald’s customers their ages and threatened to kick manager between legs

A man threatened to kick a McDonald’s manager between the legs during a drunken tirade.

Jonathan Mason, of Baldovan Terrace, threatened members of staff at the fast food restaurant in Reform Street as well as members of the public on November 28.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard a sozzled Mason entered the eatery at around 2.20am and two people sitting at a table became aware of him standing close to them.

Mason, 41, then began to ask about their ages and why people aged 18 would be there at that time.

His behaviour for the next 20 minutes attracted the attention of other customers and members of staff and Mason was offered a full refund to leave.

Mason stood in an aggressive stance and told the female manager speaking to him: “I am going to kick you in the *****.”

She requested other staff members call 999 with other restaurant-goers able to push Mason out of McDonald’s until the arrival of police.

Solicitor Jim Laverty said: “It goes without saying that he is utterly ashamed of himself.

“Alcohol is always in the background and in the last two to three weeks it’s become a significant difficulty.

“He asked me to stop narrating the circumstances to him at one point in my office.”

Sheriff Alistair Carmichael deferred sentence until January 21 for social work reports and a restriction of liberty order assessment.
