A man is to stand trial accused of fraudulently claiming more than £33,000 in disability benefits over nearly six years.
Lorenzo Armas, 51, of Balunie Drive, denies knowingly failing to notify benefit bosses of a change to his entitlement for disability living allowance between February 15 2012 and January 2 this year.
Armas is alleged to have fraudulently claimed the high-rate mobility component and the middle-rate care component of disability living allowance over the near six-year period.
He is alleged to have claimed a total of £33,860.25 to which he was not entitled.
Armas allegedly defrauded the Department for Work and Pensions of the cash after he failed to tell staff about improvements to his physical condition.
He had allegedly experienced “significant improvements” in his mobility and his ability to manage his declared disabilities, which would have meant a reduction in the care and assistance he required as a result.
It is alleged the offence took place at Balunie Avenue and elsewhere in the city.
A representative for Armas said that a translator would be required as the accused does not have a “strong grasp” of English.
A trial date has been set at Dundee Sheriff Court for February 22 with an intermediate diet set to take place on January 31.
