A man accused of assaulting a couple with a knuckleduster launched a foul-mouthed rant at a sheriff.
John Phinn, of Cunningham Street, was escorted to the cells of Dundee Sheriff Court by two security guards and a police officer.
The 43-year-old became visibly agitated after Sheriff John Rafferty refused him bail after appearing from custody.
Phinn shouted: “Absolute nonsense. This is a miscarriage of justice. It’s a ******* joke.”
He could be heard continuing his rant from the cells below.
Phinn is to stand trial accused of assaulting Cheryl Burry by punching her on the head with a knuckleduster on Murraygate on Thursday.
It is further alleged that he carried out the same attack on Graeme Cosgrove. A trial was fixed for December 19 with an intermediate diet on December 7.
