Andrejs Sokolovs, 38, of Leith Walk, stole a quantity of tools worth £175 from B&Q on King’s Cross Road/Kingsway on June 30. The court heard Sokolovs was stopped by a member of the public as he left the store. Shop staff came out to confront him and ordered him to return the items, which he did. Solicitor Jim Laverty said Sokolovs told him the incident was an “impulsive action” and he was not under the influence of any substance at the time. Sheriff Simon Collins imposed a community payback order on Sokolovs under which he must perform 35 hours of unpaid work to be completed in two months.
