Drunken woman downed three litres of cider then accused partner of cheating and threw after-shave bottle at wall

A woman went on a drunken rampage after drinking three litres of cider.

Rachel Stewart, 36, of Fullarton Street, appeared in the dock of Dundee Sheriff Court following her boozy night.

The court heard Stewart had started drinking at 7pm on Wednesday last week, downing three litres of cider in her living room alongside partner Paul Colquhoun, before things took a turn for the worse.

Fiscal depute Joanne Smith said: “She accused her partner of cheating, became abusive and called him names.

“The accused then sat in the close and he went after her. There was further shouting and swearing, and matters escalated.

“She then went into the bedroom, picked up an aftershave bottle and threw it at a wall, causing a dent.”

Stewart picked up the bottle again and threw it a second time, causing another dent. As Mr Colquhoun tried to clean up the mess, Stewart poured bleach over the carpet, damaging it. At this point Mr Colquhoun contacted police and Stewart was found outside. She was arrested and detained.

Stewart admitted a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at her home address.

She also admitted acting aggressively, shouting and swearing at Mr Colquhoun, throwing a glass bottle, causing it to strike a wall and pouring bleach onto a carpet, damaging it.

She further admitted having an offensive weapon, a knuckleduster, at the same location and on the same date.

Sentence was deferred until October 16 for reports and social work assessments.
