A soldier who broke a man’s jaw in an unprovoked attack has been fined.
Liam Hansen, of St Fillans Road, admitted that on January 19, at Industry, Seagate, he assaulted Stuart Bisset by punching him on the head to his severe injury.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard an X-ray of Mr Bisset’s injuries showed that he had suffered a fractured jaw but did not require surgery.
Hansen was a soldier with the British Army based in the Highlands but had gone AWOL at the time of the offence.
After previously deferring sentence, Sheriff George Way fined Hansen £500 and ordered that he was to pay £250 in compensation to Mr Bisset.
