Peter Fyfe, 44, of Marryat Terrace, admitted motoring offences and possessing drugs.
Fyfe had previously admitted that on June 17, at Marryat Terrace, he took and drove away a car, and in Bank Street, drove while unfit through drink or drugs and while disqualified.
He also admitted that on Bank Street, on the same date, he possessed heroin, all while on bail.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, Fyfe was disqualified from driving for five years and placed on a community payback order under supervision and with a drug treatment requirement for 18 months.
He was also placed on a restriction of liberty order for four months.
