Police have paid tribute to the victims of a rapist who was today detained for six years after attacking two teenagers in separate assaults, including one in Dundee.
Jordan Dunn, of Swallowtail Court, Dundee, was last month found guilty of raping one of the women in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, 2015 when they were both aged 17.
He was also found guilty of raping a 19-year-old care worker in Dundee last May, when he was 18 years old.
At the High Court in Edinburgh today, judge Lady Carmichael told Dunn: “Although you are only 20 years of age, your record of offending is already a cause for serious concern.”
Detective Inspector Keith Duncan of Police Scotland’s Divisional Rape Investigation Unit said: “I would like to pay tribute and thank the women who had the strength to report these traumatic offences to the police.
“Their courage during the enquiry and subsequent proceedings has enabled the case to be brought before the court and has led to the sentence delivered today. I would also like to thank our partner agencies who provided vital support to these women and the police enquiry.
“This case reinstates Police Scotland’s commitment to protecting the public. I would encourage anyone who has been the victim of sexual crime to have the confidence to report this to Police Scotland.
“Along with partner agencies we will work tirelessly to support survivors and ensure offenders are brought to justice.”
