Ticketless man who assaulted two BTP cops at Dundee Railway Station said he had swallowed razor blades

A thug who assaulted two British Transport Police officers at Dundee Railway Station was taken to hospital after he told police he had swallowed razor blades.

Marc Pert, 34, also assaulted a custody officer at Dundee Police Station, the city’s sheriff court was told.

Fiscal depute Gavin Burton told the court at around 3.30pm on Thursday, Pert and another man tried to go through the barrier at the station without a ticket.

The fiscal said Pert’s speech was slurred and his eyes were glazed, adding that he told transport officers he had travelled from Grimsby and had consumed drugs on the train.

Mr Burton said: “He was cautioned by the officers who took hold of him in order to search him and prevent him from falling over. Handcuffs were applied to his wrist and he became aggressive so was placed on the ground. He continued to be aggressive and repeatedly punched and kicked officer David Roy.”

The fiscal said Pert had told officers he had swallowed three razor blades. He was taken to Ninewells Hospital but nothing was found and he was taken to police HQ in West Bell Street.

Pert then became aggressive and bit the right leg of another British Transport Police officer, causing him significant pain. A member of the police custody staff assisted and Pert attempted to bite his right arm.

Solicitor Scott Norrie said Pert, formerly of Dundee but now of Seaton Road, Arbroath, had a drug addiction and his recollection of the incident was “next to nothing.”

Pert admitted that on August 16, at Dundee Railway Station, he assaulted David Roy by repeatedly punching and kicking him. He also admitted on the same date, at police HQ, assaulting Mohammed Lunat by biting him on the body and assaulting custody officer Scott Huband by attempting to bite him. Sheriff Lorna Drummond deferred sentence until September 10 and ordered reports, granting him bail.
