A woman who punched another woman in a taxi queue is to pay her compensation.
Sammi Cummings, 24, of Hazlehead Drive, admitted assaulting Ruth Brown by punching her in the face on Panmure Street on May 27.
Fiscal depute Gavin Burton told the court Ms Brown had been out with friends for the evening and went to the taxi queue on Panmure Street at around 3.30am.
He said there was a large group of people having an argument and when a taxi pulled up at the rank, no one attempted to get in.
“She approached the taxi at which point she was informed that it was not for her, it was for a male in a wheelchair who had been waiting for some time,” the fiscal said.
“The complainer apologised and said she was not aware of this, and the accused then approached her and threw a punch which hit her just below the right eye.”
Mr Burton said the punch caused a black eye and a cut just below the eye socket.
He said police were informed and Cummings was arrested.
She told police she didn’t know what had happened, he added.
Solicitor Anika Jethwa said her client was “deeply sorry” for her actions. She said Cummings had been drinking spirits that night and did not usually do so.
Sheriff John Rafferty told Cummings he was imposing a compensation order of £200.
