A man who attacked his mum with a banana has avoided a jail term.
Graeme Murray carried out the bizarre attack during an incident at his parents’ address in the Douglas area of Dundee in April.
Murray shouted, swore and uttered threats of violence before attacking his mother Doreen, 64, and pushing her against a worktop and grabbing her hair.
Murray then repeatedly hit her with a banana before throwing it at her, Dundee Sheriff Court heard. He also pushed her on to a bed, which left her with minor injuries.
Murray also battered his dad, James, seizing him and repeatedly punching him to the head to his injury.
Police were called and Murray then attempted to headbutt PC Ryan Shields when he tried and calm the situation.
Murray also admitted that on May 13 last year, in Balunie Avenue, Dundee, he assaulted his 71-year-old father by heatbutting him.
Murray, 40, of Exchange Street, pleaded guilty to charges of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, two of assault and one of police assault committed on April 7 this year.
He also admitted a charge of assault from May 13, 2017 and of driving whilst disqualified and attempting to pervert the course of justice in the Craigie area on October 6 last year.
Sheriff George Way disqualified Murray from driving for four years on the driving charges, and deferred sentence on the other charges until November 9 for Murray to be of good behaviour.
