A man has pleaded not guilty to seven motoring offences, including driving while nearly four times the limit and causing an accident before fleeing the scene.
Ryan McLaughlin, 19, of Bonnybank Road, is charged with taking and driving away a van from Hilltown Terrace on Friday and driving it on Hilltown Terrace, McDonald Street and Hilltown, with excess alcohol (83 mics).
He denies driving carelessly on the same streets on the same date, swerving across the road and damaging a parked car, mounting the pavement and colliding with metal barriers, driving without insurance and without a licence.
He further denies that on McDonald Street on the same date, he failed to stop and give his details; and on Hilltown Terrace, McDonald Street and Hilltown, he failed to report an accident to police within 24 hours.
Trial was set down for October 29 and he was granted bail.
