A teenager accused of endangering the life of his partner and repeatedly hurting her with a lighter flame has appeared in court.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named due to his age, made a brief appearance at Dundee Sheriff Court before Sheriff James McDonald on petition.
It is alleged that he repeatedly kicked his partner, punched her, strangled her and headbutted her over the past eight months.
He is also alleged to have assaulted another woman on one of the dates and at the same place as he allegedly assaulted his partner.
The teenager, who lives in the Charleston area of the city, is alleged to have, on November 17 2017, at McDonald’s Restaurant in Reform Street, assaulted his partner by kicking her on the body and on April 15 this year, at his home address, seized her by the hair, pulled her to the ground and repeatedly punched her on the body.
He is further alleged to have, on the same date and at the same place, assaulted another woman by repeatedly punching her to the body.
The teen is also accused of causing a breach of the peace at the same location on the same date by shouting and swearing and uttering abusive remarks towards his partner which was likely to have placed her in a state of fear or alarm.
He is also alleged to have assaulted his partner at the same address on five further occasions on April 1, May 4 and July 5.
The teenager is alleged to have kicked his partner on the body and caused her to fall to the ground, repeatedly struck her on the body with the flame of a lighter to her injury and permanent disfigurement, seized her by the body and pushed her against a wall, seized her by the neck and restricted her breathing to the danger of her life and seized her by the body and pushed her against the wall and caused her to strike her head against the wall.
He is also alleged to have, on July 11, assaulted the same woman by repeatedly headbutting her to the body and repeatedly punching her on the body.
He made no plea and was granted bail while the case was continued for further examination.
The teenager is expected to appear at court next week to be fully committed for trial.
