A man who broke into a house and stole cash was placed on a community payback order under supervision with 170 hours of unpaid work.
Ryan Finlayson, 20, of Badenach Place, admitted that on November 24 2014 he broke into a house occupied by Andrew Craigie at Strathmore Street and stole £150.
He further admitted that on January 14, at Chalk Hill Court, he punched his partner Erin Gracie on the head and compressed her neck with his hands, before striking her on the head with a box while on bail.
The court heard the case had been adjourned on several previous occasions since the offence was committed. Sheriff John Rafferty deferred sentence on Finlayson for good behaviour on that charge until January 22 next year.
