Discounted fine for local pensioner after admitting to road offence

A Tayside pensioner who drove without insurance has been banned from driving for 12 months.

George Forbes, of Airfield Sawmill, Errol, admitted driving on Cardean Street on March 15 without insurance for his vehicle.

The 79-year-old’s licence was endorsed with six penalty points and he was disqualified for a year and fined £400.

Forbes was told his fine would have been £575 but it had been discounted because of his early plea.
