A woman who falsely claimed disability benefits and employment support allowance totalling almost £26,000 has avoided a jail sentence.
Fiona Roache or Morrison, 52, of South Baffin Street, told the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) she was unfit for work for almost three years while she had a full-time job.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, Morrison admitted two charges of claiming benefits to which she was not entitled at South Baffin Street between November 3 2014 and August 24 2017.
On the first charge, Morrison admitted that she failed to inform the DWP of a change in her circumstances by gaining employment and claimed £17,000 to which she wasn’t entitled, and on the second charge she admitted making false statements to the DWP and claimed £8,900 to which she wasn’t entitled.
Sheriff John Rafferty placed her on a restriction of liberty order, restricting her to her home address between the hours of 7pm-7am, for 11 months.
