A man has been accused of breaking into the sheltered house of an 84-year-old pensioner and robbing him of cash and a bank card.
Thirty-year-old Simon Stewart is then alleged to have assaulted a 74-year-old woman, before robbing her of jewellery, computer equipment and mobile phones as well as a bank card.
Stewart, of Lansdowne Court, Dryburgh, appeared in private before Sheriff John Rafferty at Dundee Sheriff Court on a petition.
He is accused of four charges in total, all allegedly committed earlier this month.
Stewart is alleged to have, on Sunday, June 3, broken into the house occupied by 84-year-old Thomas Glancey at a property in the Ancrum area and stolen a wallet containing the cash, a bank card and a bus pass.
Stewart is further alleged to have, on the following day at another property in the Ancrum area, assaulted seventy-four-year-old Yvonne Cullen by seizing her on the body and uttering threatening remarks, before robbing her of two mobile telephones, items of jewellery, an iPad and a bank card.
Stewart is further charged with, between June 1 and 15 this year, in his home at Lansdowne Court, restoring the electricity supply which had been cut off.
He is also accused of, between June 8 and 15, at his home address, culpably and recklessly having an electricity meter bypass installed, exposing live electricity wiring which placed persons near the meter box in danger of electrocution and posed a fire risk to the property, all while on bail.
During a brief appearance, Stewart made no plea and was remanded in custody by Sheriff Rafferty.
The case was continued for further examination.
